Lubchansky Home News, April 2025
The Other Big Exciting Thing, chugging along bookwise, a nice SIMPLICITY review, and the last Gender Ordeal!
Ok so for the last couple months I’ve been like “I promise stuff is going on in my life I promise that I can’t talk about yet” and here is the other big thing: My band FAITH/VOID1 is playing this preposterously cool music festival at the end of May.
We’re playing on Saturday 5/31. Please, look at that lineup. Please for the love of God look at that lineup. The lineup: Look AT it. All proceeds from the fest are benefitting Gender Liberation Movement. Okay see you there!
Otherwise, good April! Chicago and Minneapolis Gender Ordeal shows were wonderful, and it was nice to see a couple pals and eat some food in both places. I finished scripting Between the Collapses and baby, it’s time to start drawing.
THE LAST GENDER ORDEAL SHOW!
After some wonderful shows in Boston, Philly, DC, Chicago, Minneapolis, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle, we’re finally bringing the finished show back home to NYC! We’ll be at The Bell House in Brooklyn on May 9! Imagine to yourself: what if a variety show were actually funny and also starring only beautiful transgenders!
We’ll also be joined by special guests the hilarious Esther Fallick and Oh, Mary!’s Chris Renfro and also more TBA! You can literally get tickets here.
Preordering Simplicity Would Be So Cool of You, Actually
Here’s a very nice review in PW:
Lubchansky spins the disparate elements into an audacious story about 20th-century utopian dreams meeting 21st-century cynicism. It’s a sharp addition to the canon of socially relevant science fiction.

Taking a Little Walk Corner
Letter of recommendation: Walking! So I spend a decent amount of time traveling around this country, and let me tell you: places that are not New York (where I live) or like three other places (if you think this is where you live, congratulations, it’s one of them!) are like impossible to get around without a car. I hate to drive and will avoid it at all costs! So, I find myself, very often, just deciding to hoof it to get wherever I’m going. Anyway, that’s how I always find myself on the side of a goddamned highway. Sure, it’s unpleasant and often dangerous and like people are yelling slurs at me out the window. Absolutely. But renting a car is bad for the human soul. Walk on the side of the highway!!!! This one kind of got away from me but that’s fine.

Odds and Ends
Yes, the band is named after the old hardcore split. Yes, this is on purpose. Yes, this is a normal way to name a band!!!!!!!!!!!!
